Openmind Projects Application Process
1. Apply using our online application
After reviewing our project information, you can apply through our online application by clicking "Apply Now" at the top of the page. In the application, you will tell us more about yourself and the type of project you're interested in.
2. Confirmation of a project
On acceptance to volunteer for OpenmindProjects, you will receive an e-mail response asking you to confirm your project or select another one. After confirming, you will receive a second e-mail with payment instructions and volunteer conditions.
3. Payment of a deposit
To make the final confirmation of your project, you must make a 25% deposit (or the full fee if you wish). After this deposit, we'll send you our online pre-departure handbook, which contains information about volunteering, work, travel, visas, Southeast Asian culture and Thai language. You will also receive information about our Volunteer Training Program as well as contact information so that you can reach us when you arrive.
4. Full payment
Any remaining volunteer fees (after the initial deposit) must be paid at least one month before you arrive.
5. Confirmation of travel plans
At least two weeks before arriving, you'll send us your final travel plans and your planned arrival date. If you are attending our 3-day Cross Culture Training Program in Nong Khai, you are welcome (and recommended) to arrive at our Volunteer Training Center one day prior to the start of the 3-day program. After receiving your travel plans, we will send a confirmation e-mail and send a second copy of our contact information (location and phone number) so that you can reach us upon arrival.
6. Cross Culture and Volunteer Training
If your volunteer project is in Thailand, Laos or Cambodia, you will attend our 3-day Cross Culture Training Program in Nong Khai, in northeastern Thailand. If your project is located in Nepal, you will receive a one-day introduction on arrival in Nepal. During our training, we will help you to become a successful and much appreciated volunteer!
