The Home was founded in 2005 and cares for over one-hundred orphaned and/or abandoned children. They support infants, teenagers, and children with disabilities by providing housing, support, food, medical care, and educational services. All of the kids are taught traditional Cambodian customs, and the ultimate goal is to reintegrate them into the community.
The children see volunteers both as a parent figures and as friends. Volunteers are especially welcome July–October when schools are closed. You can support the kids while gaining a unique insight into Khmer (Cambodian) culture. Everyone wins!
Volunteer tasks:
- Assisting with English classes
- Basic computer training if able, provided there are computers that work
- ICT training in Battambang, if qualified
- Teaching at the nearby primary school
- Socializing with the children, hanging out at the orphanage and giving the children some attention
