Affordable Volunteer Work Abroad Fees

Openmind Projects offers low cost volunteering overseas in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Nepal  

 

Our Volunteer With Support option is a real bargain!

Why pay $60-90/€50-75 per day—rates many overseas travel and volunteer organizations charge—when you can pay $22/€17 per day with Openmind Projects in Thailand for a two month period?   $22 USD/€17 EUR is about 680 Thai baht.  On your own a room in a guesthouse in Thailand costs 400-700 Thai baht per night but would not include the volunteer placement/project, meals, volunteer support, handbooks or training you get with us!
 

Your entire fee goes towards support to our projects, your volunteer placements, in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Nepal, to our overseas volunteers but not to administration, office, promotion or other costs elsewhere.  

 

You can Volunteer Overseas with Support 

When you choose this option you get our 3-day Volunteer and Cross-Culture Training as well as other forms of assistance at a fraction of the cost that many Volunteer and Travel Organizations charge.

• We help you find the project that suits your taste as well as your skills by matching your background with the needs of the local project.  We will also look after the administration of the project of your choice.
• We help you arrange transportation to your project; sometimes you may be picked up, other times you may travel on your own.
• You receive an extensive online Pre-Departure Handbook containing travel, volunteering, teaching, language and cross-culture advice.  You receive this handbook either when you make the full payment or when you pay your deposit.
• You are treated to our renowned 3-day Volunteer and Cross-Culture Training in Nong Khai, Thailand.  This includes free accommodation and lunches at the Training Center gives you three extra days of living with other volunteers as well as our local trainees, who we recruit from the projects where our volunteers go.  It will help prepare you for your new role as a volunteer in another culture.  You will also get a free Openmind Projects T-shirt.
• You receive our In-Country Support which includes
  • Accommodation: Depending on the location of your placement there are several options: home stay with a host family, a room at the local school, housing at a national park or share a room at the Openmind Projects Training Center in Nong Khai in Northeast or Openmind Projects Volunteer House in Krabi in South Thailand.
  • Meals: At most home stays and national parks meals are included.  Schools provide lunch.  At our Volunteer Training Center in Nong Khai you are welcome to learn to cook with our staff, who prepare lunch and dinner.  At the Volunteer House in Krabi meals are prepared for you or you can cook your own meals at the house.
  • 24 hour-a-day emergency support.
  • A Volunteer Training Certificate upon the successful completion of your Volunteer training.
  • A Volunteer Certificate upon the successful completion of your Volunteer work.
  • A Letter of Reference on request.
  • In Nepal, you are picked up at the airport and then assisted with transportation to the project.  The local project host will meet you there and provide you with an introduction to your specific role in your placement.

You can Volunteer Overseas as an Independent Volunteer 

This option is for the Volunteer who is an experienced traveler or volunteer and wants to and is prepared to take care of him/herself and pay for all costs for their training and volunteering.

• We help you to find the project that suits your taste as well as your skills by matching your background with the needs of the local project.  
• You receive our extensive online Pre-Departure Handbook containing travel, Volunteering, teaching, language and cross-cultural advice.
• You arrange and pay for all transportation.
• You pay for all accommodations, meals and any other volunteer support and services.
• You are welcome to our renowned 3-day Volunteer and Cross-Culture Training in NongKhai.  This volunteer training will give you 3 valuable days with other Volunteers as well as our local Trainees.  It will help prepare you to Volunteer in another culture.  You will also get our nice Openmind Projects T-shirt.
