Nepal is Tibet and India in one! From chilly Himalayan villages to lush steamy jungles in the lowlands. The Kathmandu valley is the center of the country but outside of the valley you approach the giant mountains or descend to jungles with exotic but endangered wildlife. You meet the people of Nepal, Tibet and other ethnic groups. Many Tibetans, including the Dalai Lama fled their country after the Chinese occupation. The people of Nepal have faced many hardships and much violence in the past and a most are very poor. The young are desperately looking for work abroad. Young girls are trafficked to India into forced prostitution.

As an OpenmindProjects international volunteer you can work in the Kathmandu city or valley or outside in a mountain village or in a jungle village near an amazing national park with several wildlife conservation projects of international importance.
You can volunteer at a school, Tibetan monastery, orphan home or hospital in Kathmandu and in the Kathmandu valley.
You can volunteer in a village in South Nepal, near the famous Chitwan National Park, an Eco and education project run by the local village.
You can volunteer in a Himalayan mountain village, a monastery.

As a volunteer you can choose to stay with a host family or choose volunteer accommodation with our partner organization in Kathmandu.
