   Did you know?

Your fee fuels the local economy, the country where you are going, not the countries where volunteers come from and most volunteer organizations are based.
All fees include a 300 Euros non refundable administration fee. This fee is reduced to 200 Euros per volunteer for couples and groups.  You can change your placement or extend your stay while in the country at an extra administration fee of 50 Euros. Fees are subject to change without prior notice.
Program fees are tax-deductible for US residents. US residents should speak with a tax advisor to learn how the international airfare can be tax-deductible. Many people successfully fundraise. Ask us for advice, info@openmindprojects.org

Openmindprojects, what we do and our costs
We don’t accept any external financial support, only volunteer fees.

We have low volunteer fees compared to most volunteer organizations because we have low overhead costs in Europe and America and we don’t spend any money on promotion. We use Internet only and referrals by previous volunteers though we do not only act as a volunteer but also as an aid and development organization which increases our costs. Our local staff mostly work half time which means they know many people and can help introduce you to local and useful people or organizations. Some of our staff study and work for us part time. We pay for their studies, provide free accommodation and a monthly stipend for them. We regularly have Western volunteer and intern staff too who help with development work and administration. They are reimbursed for their expenses. We pay placements, schools, homes and national parks, for volunteer accommodation and all volunteer meals, breakfast, lunch, dinner. We spend a lot of time and money on development and expansion:
  1. new learning/teaching material and methods, esp. computer aided learning
  2. training workshops with Thai teachers
  3. eco tourism and wildlife conservation projects, including website and promotion material for our beneficiaries
  4. expansion into new regions, new schools, homes, national parks, wildlife reserves
The volunteer fees go to
  1. recruit volunteers on behalf of schools, national parks and other institutions. We don’t charge them for those costs!
  2. Identify and prepare new projects/placements
  3. Reimburse placements for volunteer accommodation and food
  4. Pre Departure Volunteer hand book.
  5. 24 hour volunteer support
  6. In Country Volunteer Orientations
  7. Other  information material, incl. a CD ROM for volunteers
  8. Our staff,
  9. Our office, houses, premises, expenses
  10.  IT and other overhead
  11.  Teach and education development
  12. E-learning development
  13. Help our own young staff to study. We only recruit poor young people who want to study.
  14. Provide computers and other material to some places
