How the Tsunami Volunteer may help Tsunami Victims in Thailand
|
|
| |
We focus on support to tsunami victims at tsunami affected primary and
secondary schools, vocational colleges, orphanages and Non Formal Education
Centers for grown ups. We believe that one of the most helpful things a
tsunami volunteer can do to help tsunami victims, is to help young tsunami
victims to learn for a better future, to teach English, computer skills.
A tsunami volunteer going to a tsunami village must, however, be prepared
for simple life and difficult work conditions!

victims, computer skills or combinations. |

At primary schools that
are now capable of receiving volunteers. Volunteers must, however,
be prepared to teach alone and to accept quite simple living conditions!
The teachers and host families may also be tsunami victims but they
do a appreciate a tsunami volunteer!

Direct Aid to Tsunami Victims! Another
way to help as a tsunami volunteer in Thailand.

We will be happy to advise you how!
Many people have contacted us after the tsunami. How to help the tsunami
victims? Some wanted to donate money. We have been able to help some
to help. Where, to whom and what to give.
We have helped an adult education center to get new computers. We could
help tsunami volunteers and international visitors to help the tsunami
victims in a village directly, to buy what is needed or to do give
money directly to a tsunami affected school, village.
Direct aid to the tsunami victims who still need support is one of
the best ways to help but you must know whom to help, when and how!
If you do, you avoid delays caused by bureaucracies, losing money in
overhead costs or outright corruption.
Handing out money and aid indiscriminately to tsunami victims has little
if any effect. It may even be confusing and counterproductive!
We and the tsunami volunteer on placement frequently learn of tsunami victims,
people, tsunami affected schools and villages that need help, but did
not yet receive much!
If you want information about tsunami victims who need your help, you
may contact info@openmindprojects.org but
you must be prepared to do the admin and other work, making contacts
and follow up yourself since we do not have any resources to do so.

All fees include a Euros 300 non refundable administration fee. We refund the fee, less the administration fee, if you cancel at least one month before arrival. If you, due to disease or another valid reason, need to terminate your volunteer stay before your period is up, you will receive a refund for the remaining period less a Euros 200 administration fee. All meals and lodgings at the volunteer placement are included in the fee. If you prefer to stay for another period of time, we can arrange that too. Since our operations are based in Thailand, our fees are quite moderate. Check on how the fees are spent
and read more on our frequently asked questions page.
Did you know?
Your fee ends up in the local economy, the country where you are going! It helps the local economy, not that of the countries where most volunteers come from and most volunteer organizations are based.
Tsunami victims at tsunami affected schools and villages need you,
the tsunamii volunteer, who is serious about your work, willing to
accept simple life and difficult working conditions amongst tsunami
victims, at tsunami schools, in tsunami villages. To be a tsunami volunteer
in Thailand is very rewarding but everybody is not up to being a tsunami
volunteer! Please consider to be tsunami volunteer in Thailand if you
feel up to it! Tsunami volunteer in Thailand!
